Week 6 RESULTS!!

Friends-
Sorry soooo late!!! Ok- I've been working hard on my lesson for this Saturday. Our stake is having a women's conference and I am teaching a class on "Bringing Light and Clarity into My Life" and you are welcome to come if you'd like! Though you might hear some things from this challenge! Haha! You might even hear some of your own comments!! :) But there are some great other classes too! It's from 9am-1:30 pm at the LDS church on Elliot and Lindsay in Gilbert. We each teach 3 times, at 9:35, 10:05 and 10:35 and then there is lunch and a musical presentation. Hope to see you there if you can fit it in. No pressure!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is your scripture study going? Did I mention that you can also read conference talks or any of the teachings of the prophets? They are all scripture!! I hope you are gaining a testimony of the word of God!

Don't forget to look at some beautiful art this week and get 5 more points!

Thanks so much for all your wonderful comments and insight! What fun to read these beautiful words!! I am loving it!!

I MESSED UP SOMETHING... I accidentally deleted some of your names in the google doc that the survey makes and you CAN'T UNDO anything with those forms!!! ARG!! Some of your names didn't get deleted and some I could figure out (I knew Jennie was going to Grand Canyon etc.) But others I don't have a name next to! Could you please email me back and let me know which quote(s) belong to you? THANKS and SORRRRRYYYY!!!!

Week 6 Ah ha moments

I spent lots of time preparing for a lesson today on grace. I love that in addition to being saved by grace, we are being changed by grace. Every day. In small little ways. A tree starts from a seed. And it is shaped and changed by its potential and its circumstances. So are we. We choose whether our circumstances will change us to be more like Christ or less like Him. – Jennie Blaser

Thoughts on Music:

When Lucie past, I was in a very raw place. Never in my life had music felt the way it did now. If it was beautiful music, it immediately brought me to tears, no crying. Music reached so deep in my soul that I gained an undeniable testimony that it was part of our Heavenly Fathers language. That sensitivity has since wore off some, as I have been able to journey to a more joyful state. Still I will never forget that tender mercy of feeling my Savoir through music! – Shauna Gallman

We took our kids to the Grand Canyon this week. On the drive back, instead of having them watch a movie, I thought about the music challenge and said, "let's play name that tune". I plugged in my phone and hit shuffle. For hours we guessed each song, sang along with some favorites, just listened in silence to some of the more peaceful ones, etc. it was so fun!! And, I'm happy to say there weren't any songs I felt were not appropriate for everyone to hear! – Jennie Blaser

I love music & so I'm constantly surrounded by music.  It's ability to lift us & allow the Spirit to talk to our Spirit is endless.  I'm grateful for those who have the talent to write beautiful music & for those gifted to sing. - Tava Udall

Thoughts on mystery challenge: Look in the Mirror and SMILE! Remind yourself who you really are!!

As weird as it might sound - "Looking" at myself in the mirror was kind of strange cause you really don't "look" at yourself. You always "look" at your hair, at your clothes or at your skin - but not at "yourself".  After the awkwardness wore off - hearing the words "I am a child of God and I am loved" was like getting a big hug. I Loved It!- ??? Janell?

I kept forgetting! But I did it several times! One night, I had some horrible dream and woke up sweating and feeling panicked. I just laid there in bed and whispered "I am a daughter of God. He loves me." Over and over and it helped so much! No mirror required! – Jennie Blaser

I found that I brushed my teeth longer more thoroughly. And I LOOKED at me.  It was unique and sometimes disconcerting yet powerful too. I am going to continue to do this. - Hillarie Miller

I am handsome.  just kidding.   No matter what we do...God sees our true self and knows our potential.  – Dan Brimhall

What do you think is the most important thing you have learned so far on this challenge?

I think I am still learning - Don't get so caught up in life that you let the important things fall through the cracks or get left undone.  I love the weekly reminders. - ???

I just love how so many different aspects of life  (ie the focus each week) can each help us to become better. Some will be easier and that's ok! – Jennie Blaser

I have been reminded that parts of my life are too cluttered.  I made a conscious effort (about a week ago after your encouragement, and after re-reading Cindy Seipert's piece) to get serious and change some of my habits--to simplify my life.  I know it will take a little time, but it is working and I feel hope.  I updated my "vision board" to include statements that will bring more order to my home, and especially to reduce the stacks of papers lying around.  Phrases that stood out to me were, "Give it everything you've got," and "Give your home a workout."  I don't know quite how to not attach emotional significance to things, but I feel it will come.  I need to get started.  Part of my plan is this:  My home workout is MWF for a half hour, while my body workout is TuThSat for a half hour:)  The home workout has a high priority.  I know God will help me and Kent will too. – Mary Anne Koski

Many times I have been reminded of the goodness of others. This goodness takes me outside of myself and helps me see what I can do for others.  This is cyclical and brings more good.  Very powerful.  - Hillarie Miller

That God is good, Heavenly Father is EVERYWHERE we just have to be Intune with the Spirit to notice ALL that He is & then implement Him into our daily lives.  God will forever be our Friend, advocate & counselor. He will put Angels (friends, loved ones) in our lives to help us along the way. We are Never alone!! - Tava Udall

Sarah! I'm back! I felt so overwhelmed the past few weeks that I stopped working on this challenge. I just felt prompted to read this email though and it touched me. I loved and admired Trudy so very much and wanted to be just like her! She was my yw leader and then I worked very closely with her for months leading up to Retreat for Girls(RFG). I remember coming home from RFG to find out Trudy had crashed and been killed on her way home from our week together and feeling so sad that someone so amazing and who I loved so much was gone. Reading your email just now was the reminder I needed of what made Trudy such an incredible example.....her love of God & her obedience in reading her scriptures daily. I'm starting today and I may not do so well in the other aspects of this challenge, but I am going to be 100% with my scripture study so I can be like Trudy (& you now! ) and always have his spirit to guide my life!
Thank you Sarah!! Love you! – Randa Canter

I really had fun making new questions on the survey. They weren't terribly creative but it was fun to shake it up! Here are your answers...

Mystery Challenge!! (btw- my mom didn't give me this idea! Oops!) Spend a little time looking at works of art by famous artists, or your favorite artists. You don't have to go to a museum or anything (but that would be great!) just search for an artist or types of art online. Please share any special ones you find! Have fun!
